The Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Clinic at OHSU is the first of its kind in Oregon dedicated to treating this complicated disease, in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common genetic cardiac condition, is difficult to diagnose and affects each person differently. OHSU's integrated team from Cardiology, Medical Genetics and Pediatric Cardiology helps people with HCM and their families lead normal lives. Dr. Stephen Heitner is director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic at the OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute.  Dr. Heitner specializes in caring for patients with uncommon and complex cardiac conditions, and he is an expert in cardiac imaging.
