Collaboration with St. John Medical Center

OHSU's Cardiovascular Medicine and PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center, in Longview, Washington, have a joint collaboration for combating cardiovascular disease in the area. St. John's Hospital was built in 1924 to serve the Longview community. It is operated by the PeaceHealth Medical Group. There is extreme pride and support for the hospital in the Longview community.

The faculty is hired jointly by OHSU and PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center and they have faculty appointments at OHSU. They spend 80% of their time at Longview and 20% at the main OHSU campus in Portland.

The aim of this partnership is to provide outstanding primary and secondary cardiovascular care at Longview with tertiary and quaternary care provided at OHSU, as well as to develop a strong academic program at Longview.

Our cardiovascular fellows train at Longview and we also perform clinical research there. The 20% time spent by the Longview-based faculty at the main OHSU campus is designed to provide continuing medical education as well as professional growth.
