About Vascular Surgery

OHSU Vascular Surgery provides the full spectrum of care for patients with vascular disease — including medical management of vascular disease, noninvasive and invasive diagnosis of vascular disorders, as well traditional open surgical management of vascular disease and minimally invasive procedures for diseases of the arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels.  

As Oregon’s only academic health center, OHSU vascular surgeons, along with their nonsurgical colleagues, are dedicated to serve as both a local and regional resource for patients with vascular disease.  OHSU vascular surgeons have acquired extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with diseases affecting the carotid arteries supplying blood to the brain, as well as the major blood vessels of the chest, abdomen and extremities.  

Common diseases treated by OHSU vascular surgeons include narrowing of the carotid artery, aneurysms of the arteries of the chest, abdomen and extremities as well as diseases limiting blood flow to the extremities.   Patients with foot problems related to diabetes, patients requiring dialysis access, patients with vascular injuries, those with tumors involving major blood vessels, patients with vasospastic vascular disorders, varicose veins and venous thrombosis are also frequently managed by OHSU vascular surgeons reflecting their dedication to the care of patients with all types of vascular disorders.
