Timothy Smith, MD, MPH, FACS - Director
Timothy L. Smith, MD, MPH, FACS is currently Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Oregon Health &Science University in Portland, Oregon where he also serves as Director of the Oregon Sinus Center, Chief of Rhinology and Sinus-Skull Base Surgery, and Director of Clinical Research. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in biology prior to completing his M.D. degree at the same University. He completed his residency at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Fellowship in Rhinology and Sinus Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He earned his Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy, Finance and Administration at the University of North Carolina School of Public Health.
Dr. Smith is a recognized expert in nasal/sinus/skull base disorders and his clinical practice is focused on nasal, sinus, and skull base disease and surgery including management of tumors of the sinuses and skull base and complex sinus disease. He is actively involved in research and has held several research grants including serving as the Principal Investigator of the first multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary study of outcomes of sinus surgery funded by the National Institutes of Health in the United States. Dr. Smith has given over 350 lectures nationally and internationally, has been the course director for many national/international Continuing Medical Education Programs, and serves as director of the Fellowship in Rhinology and Sinus/Skull Base Surgery at Oregon Health &Science University.
Dr. Smith is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Triological Society and the American Rhinologic Society, in addition to membership in several other specialty societies. Dr. Smith has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles, invited articles, book chapters, and other scientific publications. He has received four teaching awards from the residents of two departments of otolaryngology and has been honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Dr. Maurice Cottle Honor Award for distinguished research from the American Rhinologic Society. In addition, he is the first American Rhinologist/Sinus Surgeon to be elected to the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum, a distinguished international society of only 50 US members.
Dr. Smith is a Past President of the American Rhinologic Society, the largest subspecialty organization of practicing nasal/sinus surgeons in the USA, and was elected to both the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Board of Directors for the American Board of Otolaryngology. He has served as an Associate Editor of the International Forum of Allergy &Rhinology and JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has served on the editorial boards of several other journals.

Lindsay E. Wyant, MS, PA-C
Lindsay Wyant received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and went on to complete a Masters in Physician Assistant studies at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants.
She practiced with a private otolaryngology-head and neck surgery group in Portland before joining the Oregon Sinus Center team in 2007 as an Instructor. She serves as an instructor and mentor for physician assistant students and is actively involved Oregon Health & Science Physician Assistant Program. She has been treating rhinology and sinus related issues since 2004, and enjoys being a part of the Oregon Sinus Center.
Naweed Chowdhury, MD - Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Fellow
Dr. Chowdhury was raised in Houston, Texas and
completed his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Rice University. He then
proceeded to obtain his MD with Honors at Baylor College of Medicine, located
in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. From there he returned to his
birth-state, Kansas, to complete his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck
Surgery at the University of Kansas in Kansas City. His academic interests
include innovative approaches for medical and surgical treatment of sinus and
skull base disease, value-based health care, and novel uses of image processing
technology to predict sinonasal surgery outcomes. In his free time, Dr.
Chowdhury enjoys playing his 1958 replica Les Paul guitar, biking,
international travel/mission trips, cooking, and cheering for his hometown

Prior to scheduling an appointment, our providers often need to review chart notes related to the reason you want to be seen in order to coordinate any additional tests they may need in order to make the most of your visit. In some cases, we will require a referral from your primary care physician. We would be happy to discuss this with you to ensure we have all we need to expedite the scheduling process.
