Timothy Smith, MD, MPH, FACS - Director

Timothy Smith, MD

 

Dr. Smith received his M.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. He subsequently completed an Otolaryngology/ Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a Master of Public Health Degree at the same university. He completed a fellowship in Rhinology and Sinus Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He served on the faculty at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee prior to becoming Chief of Rhinology and Sinus Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is the current Director of the Oregon Sinus Center at OHSU where he serves as Professor and Chief of Rhinology and Sinus Surgery.

His practice is focused on rhinology and sinus surgery. He is actively involved in clinical research and holds a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study outcomes of treatment of sinus disorders. He serves on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Rhinology, the Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology, and the American Journal of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Smith has been invited to speak nationally and internationally about nasal and sinus disorders and surgery and has numerous publications in medical journals and textbooks.

Clinical Practice

Dr. Smith’s clinical practice is limited to rhinology/nasal and sinus disorders and surgery and includes:

Nathan B. Sautter, M.D.

Dr. Sautter completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and graduated summa cum laude. He went on to graduate from the University of Michigan Medical School  (cum laude) and completed his Otolaryngology residency training at the Cleveland Clinic Head & Neck Institute. He arrived in Portland in 2007 for his fellowship in Rhinology with Dr Timothy Smith, and is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery. Dr. Sautter is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Clinical Interests

His clinical interests include all aspects of Rhinology (Nose and sinus) and endoscopic sinus surgery, including revision sinus surgery, CSF leaks and sinonasal neoplasms. His research interests include genetic mechanisms of sinusitis, quality of life outcomes in sinus surgery, and inverted papilloma. Dr. Sautter sees patients at the Center for Health & Healing at the Portland South Waterfront district.

 



Lindsay E. Wyant, MS, PA-C

Lindsay Wyant, MS, PA-C

Lindsay Wyant received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and went on to complete a Masters in Physician Assistant studies at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants.

She practiced with a private otolaryngology / head and neck surgery group in Portland before joining the Oregon Sinus Center team in 2007 as an Instructor. She serves as an instructor and mentor for physician assistant students and is actively involved Oregon Health & Science Physician Assistant Program. She has been treating rhinology and sinus related issues since 2004, and enjoys being a part of the Oregon Sinus Center.



Jeremiah Alt, MD

Dr Jeremiah Alt joins the Oregon Sinus Center in July 2012 as the Rhinology Fellow. Dr Alt will be doing advanced training in rhinology, sinus, and other nose-related problems and treatment. He will see patients at the OHSU Center for Health & Healing on Portland's South Waterfront campus.
