About Us

HRC

The Oregon Hearing Research Center (OHRC), located in beautiful Portland, Oregon, was founded in 1966 under the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Oregon Health & Science University as the Kresge Hearing Research Laboratory.  Our faculty study the cellular, molecular and physiological aspects of development, function, and disease of the inner ear and auditory central nervous system.  The OHRC provides training opportunities to pre- and post-doctoral trainees as well as summer interns and residents, and serves as a research core center (P30) that supports shared bioengineering, imaging and mouse core resources.

Current research funding comes from the National Institutes of Health, the American Otological Society, the American Hearing Research Foundation, the Medical Research Foundation of Oregon, NASA, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense and the Hearing Health Foundation.  Additional funding support comes from collaborations with industry in areas ranging from novel therapeutic drugs to cochlear implants.  Private donations also support research as well as provide training opportunities for students.
