Pediatric Residency Program
LETTER FROM THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Welcome to the Pediatric Residency Training Program at OHSU in Portland, OR. Our training program has a long history of excellence, which contributes to the reputation of Doernbecher Children's Hospital as an outstanding clinical, teaching, and research institution in the great Pacific Northwest.
The size of our program affords us the distinct opportunity to provide individualized attention to each resident and because of this; we are able to help every resident achieve their greatest potential.
The Pediatric Residency Training Program is based at the freestanding Doernbecher Children's Hospital, on the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) campus. Our residents also rotate at Randall Children's Hospital and Kaiser Permanente clinics here in Portland.
Our training has a broad-based exposure to general pediatrics, critical care and subspecialty pediatrics. We have a schedule of experiences that optimizes the balance between inpatient and outpatient pediatrics, and allows residents exposure to seven subspecialty rotations. Residents are given ample elective rotations, and are encouraged to explore all areas of Pediatrics including International Medicine, Research Electives, Sports Medicine, PICU Nursing, Transport Medicine and a very wide variety of other opportunities.
The pediatric residency believes in a healthy work-life balance for residents and their families during this busy time. Portland is Oregon's largest metropolis, and has also been named one of the most livable cities in America. Downtown Portland is full of culture and commerce. Portland is right between the scenic mountains to the east, and the beautiful Oregon Coast to the west.
