Biofeedback is a skill that your child can learn. It teaches your child how to relax the urinary sphincter muscle when urinating. It also teaches your child how to tighten the muscle when he/she needs to.
How is Biofeedback done?
- Several electrodes are placed on your childs skin:
- Two are placed on your child’s belly
- Two are placed on your childs buttocks
- The electrodes are attached to a small computer that takes the signals from the muscles during tightening or releasing and shows those signals in a picture form that your child can see on the computer screen. The picture will tell your child when he/she is tightening and when he/she is relaxing the sphincter muscle. With this your child can practice using these muscles more accurately.
