We strive to provide family-centered care and encourage you to participate in your baby’s care. We consider you an important part of your baby’s healthcare team.
When can you (parents) visit?
You may visit your baby at any time, as often as you choose, except during nurse shift changes, from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Who else can visit?
If you are a single parent, you may choose one support person. Relatives and friends must be accompanied by you or your support person, unless they are designated by you as an “approved visitor.” Children under 12 who are not your baby’s siblings may not enter the unit.
How many people can visit?
No more than three people per family are allowed on the unit at one time. This guideline applies even if you have more than one child in the NICU. Additional family members may wait in the Family Lounge immediately outside the unit.
What should I know about visiting?
Please be considerate of other patients’ privacy and visit only your baby. All information about your infant is confidential. Feel free to ask questions and talk about your concerns with your baby’s healthcare team. Ask any of us if you want to talk with a social worker, case manager, spiritual counselor or a financial counselor.
Can I visit if I might have a cold?
Anyone who is ill, sneezing or feverish MAY NOT enter the unit. A “little cold” to you can represent a major threat to the health of our patients.
