Pediatric Brain Tumors
Complete treatment for spinal cord and brain tumors in children
We are a comprehensive pediatric program for infants, children and adolescents with brain tumors. We treat 45-50 children with brain and spinal cord tumors each year.
Your child receives highly specialized care from a whole team of brain tumor experts.
Your child’s unique needs are reviewed and discussed by our team of specialists who collaborate on the best course of brain tumor treatment for your child. Our specialists are experts in neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, neuroradiology, neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, endocrinology, neuropsychology, neuropathology and nursing.
We provide your child the most advanced surgical procedures and childhood brain tumor expertise.
Our pediatric neurosurgeons use the latest technology to maximize tumor removal and preserve brain function, assuring your child the best possible outcome. This includes intraoperative MRI in our two-story, dedicated surgical suite. This precise imaging system offers better results and reduces the need for repeat surgeries and even sedated MRI after brain surgery, so it’s easier on parents and kids. And surgeons can often give you results directly after your child’s surgery, instead of waiting for the next day’s scans. Learn more about iMRI.
Our research gives your child access to the newest brain tumor treatments for kids.
We are the only center in Oregon to conduct Phase I clinical trials for pediatric cancer care. This means at Doernbecher your child can participate in a clinical study and find new hope when conventional pediatric brain tumor treatments have not been successful.
