Programs and services

In these challenging times, the Tom Sargent Safety Center at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital remains dedicated to keeping your child safe.

Car seat checks

A certified child passenger safety technician will provide education and technical help on installing and using your child’s car safety seat. By appointment only.

If you need a low-cost car seat, please contact us to see if you are eligible for the Oregon Department of Transportation's car seat distribution program.

Remote home-safety consultations

One of our injury prevention educators can connect remotely with you to provide individual, age-specific education on home safety. We can share resources, address concerns, and suggest safety-related products.

Virtual infant-safety consultations

If you have a newborn or a baby on the way, this is a great way to learn best practices for infant safety. Topics include safe sleep, basic childproofing, and traveling with your baby.

Safety products

Families in the Portland metro area can purchase low cost safety products available at the Doernbecher Tom Sargent Safety Resource Center during regular hours Mon-Fri 10a.m. - 3:30p.m. or by appointment.
