Mary Shannon Goodwin
Bilingual Registrar, Outpatient Registration Services
I currently work as an Inreach/Outreach Coordinator at OHSU and am a Certified Community Partner Assister for Cover Oregon. I speak Spanish and Portuguese and have lived and worked in Central America, Brazil and Mexico. After graduating with a BA in International Studies and serving for two years in the Peace Corps in Honduras, I knew I wanted to continue to be involved with outreach to Spanish speaking communities. Since moving to Oregon in 1991, I have worked as a Medical Interpreter for 12 years, and have served Spanish speaking clients in various professional capacities. I also spent a year living and teaching English in Brazil. I continue to look for opportunities to advocate for the less advantaged and underserved communities in our area. For these reasons, I feel I am fortunate to be a member of the Cultural Advocacy Team at OHSU. It truly is a group of people who are dedicated to strengthening and expanding the many positive benefits of a robust diversity presence at OHSU and beyond. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, singing, helping animals, and spending as much time as possible exploring the grandeurs of nature in places with plenty of sunshine.
