Amy Guthrie
Palliative Care Nurse Consultant/Instructor, Patient Relations
I am an advanced practice nurse on OHSU’s Palliative Medicine/Comfort Care Team. I work as a consultant helping treatment teams to support patients with serious illnesses and uncertain futures. I moved from Ohio to Oregon in 2007 for my job. I am thankful for my new professional and personal home in the Greater Portland area.
My work on the CAT is an extension of my life’s core guiding principle of honoring the values and beliefs of everyone I meet. I appreciate the uniqueness of individuals and I have seen the positive and lasting impact personalized care produces. I also believe acceptance of each other makes the world go around. My goal for each day is to learn something new, which usually occurs when meeting someone new.
I enjoy staying connected with my out-of-state, adult children via Skype. My favorite activities include walking my energetic dogs, sewing, crocheting, and most things occurring outdoors.
