Benefits to practicing mindfulness with diabetes

A brief history:

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn. MBSR uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and yoga to help reduce stress, chronic pain and promote self-compassion.

What are the benefits to practicing mindfulness and diabetes?

Studies have linked mindfulness to reducing depression and diabetes burnout as well as improving A1C, which is the current clinical tool used for identifying effective diabetes self-care. The benefits of developing self-compassion have also shown improved health outcomes with other chronic conditions including cancer, anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). With these benefits, we hope you can join us or find a mindfulness program that works for you or your loved one living with diabetes!
