Preventative Care

Preventative Care - Transplant Clinic

An ounce of prevention

We want to help you prevent skin cancer. Each patient has unique skin and an individual past of sun exposure, both of which influence the risk of skin cancer development. Immunosuppression multiplies that risk up to 65 times that of the general public! This is a daunting statistic, but interventions can minimize your risk -- a primary goal of this clinic.

In addition to a thorough skin exam, patients will receive detailed education regarding their individual risk of skin cancer, how to reduce this risk, how to perform skin self-exams, and how to identify a lesion concerning for skin cancer. We will also develop an individualized follow-up plan for you. Even if you received a transplant years ago and/or have been on long-term immunosuppression, addressing these risk reduction strategies are always worthwhile.
