Clinic Description
OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital has two pediatric neurosurgeons and two dedicated nurse practitioners on staff who work together to provide consultation and care for patients. Division head Nathan R. Selden, M.D., Ph.D., and Daniel Guillaume, M.D. provide comprehensive pediatric neurosurgery care from infancy to adolescence.
Interdisciplinary care for complex neurosurgical diseases, in cooperation with other departments in Doernbecher Children's Hospital, OHSU Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children, Portland is provided.
Pediatric neurological surgery services are also available in Bend, Oregon.
Leaders in evidence-based medicine
Our physicians are national leaders in the development of evidence-based medicine in pediatric neurosurgery. The Guidelines for the Management of Severe Traumatic Brain Injury were written by an interdisciplinary team of national experts based at OHSU. Drs. Selden and Guillaume have published evidence in leading journals about effective treatment strategies for Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, tethered spinal cord, spina bifida occulta, hydrocephalus, and a number of other disorders in children.
