Komen for the Cure

The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute has received local and national grants for breast cancer research from Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This vital funding supports research into breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, targeting an oncoprotein believed to be involved in the development and spread of breast cancer.
Additionally, OHSU and Komen have worked together in Salem, Oregon, and Washington, D.C. on policy issues important to breast cancer patients. We have also partnered for community education programs such as the Breast Cancer Issues conference.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists in the world. With a dedicated network of U.S. and international affiliates and through events such as Race for the Cure®, Komen promises to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. The local affiliate serves all of Oregon and three counties in Southwest Washington.
