How Your Gifts Help

The Knight Cancer Challenge:

In September 2013, Nike co-founder Phil Knight and his wife, Penny, issued a historic challenge to advance breakthrough cancer research. If OHSU raised $500 million by February 2016, the Knights would donate an additional $500 million to support the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's vision to end cancer as we know it. OHSU announced the completion of that challenge in June, 2015 – months ahead of schedule – thanks to the support of thousands of donors in Oregon and beyond.

How can my gift make a difference?

We are leveraging unprecedented resources to take an all-out stand against cancer. But there’s still more work to do. We’re building a dream team of scientific experts to collaborate on innovations in early detection and giving them the tools they need to accelerate discovery.  We’re bending the curve by seeking faster, smarter ways to detect and treat cancer, and putting unprecedented resources into making a significant impact in a decade. This is a huge undertaking, and philanthropy will make all the difference. Every gift matters.

What do gifts help do?

Philanthropy plays a vital role in accelerating cancer research and care - helping to fund and launch new research studies, fund important outreach and patient care initiatives, and educate future cancer experts. Your support makes a difference in our ability to bring new hope to patients more quickly.
