CANCER CYTOGENETICS AND FISH TESTING

Our Cytogenetics laboratory has extensive experience in testing cancers of the blood and solid tumors. Testing can be performed on the following types of tissue:

  • Bone marrow
  • Blood
  • Skin
  • Lymph node
  • Tumor tissue

Cytogenetics and fluorescent-in situ-hybridization (FISH) testing have long been key components in the diagnosis of blood malignancies. Recently, FISH has become an essential diagnostic tool for treatment decisions for solid tumor patients as well. . The laboratory is staffed with a team of very experienced technologists, board-certified Directors, and a research team which keep abreast of new technologies and testing applications. Our Directors are always available for consultation with referring physicians.

Cancer FISH

Our FISH library contains 60 different probes. Testing at the Knight Diagnostic Laboratories includes: probes which can determine appropriate treatment:

  • HER2
  • ALK
  • MET
  • ROS1
  • RET

Testing includes a pathologist review of each tumor slide prior to FISH testing and microscopic analysis.
