Meet Drew Chen, D.O.

Andrew (Drew) Tzong-Yow Chen, D.O. joined OHSU Knight Cancer Institute from the University of Utah. As a hematologist, medical oncologist, and an osteopathic physician, Dr. Chen brings a unique perspective to the team, emphasizing his patients' well-being. He sees patients at the community clinics in Gresham and East Portland.

"One of my primary goals is to be a good advocate and advisor to my patients. Understanding and dealing with cancer can be difficult for many. I try to keep patients well-informed so they can best approach their own cancer care."

Cancer and blood disease care is a fast-moving field, he says. Being able to bring OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's cutting-edge research and innovation closer to the patients and their community is something he truly enjoys.

"While we may have the latest treatments, it's often difficult for patients to travel far from home and family. The nice thing about our east Portland and Gresham locations is that it bridges that gap — patients are close to home and getting the best care we offer."

Prior to joining OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Dr. Chen completed his residency in internal medicine at Legacy Health System in Portland, Oregon, and his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Utah. He earned his medical degree at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, California. He speaks English and Taiwanese, and enjoys traveling and distance running.
