Neuroscience Critical Care Program Director’s Message

Ansgar Brambrink - OHSU Neurocritical Care LeadershipIn 2005 OHSU inaugurated a comprehensive program that provides the state and region with an exceptional neurosciences clinical, research and academic knowledge base.

In addition to our excellent physician leadership, our unit also has experienced neurosciences registered nurses and outstanding dedicated physician  assistants and nurse practitioners specialized in neurocritical care.  Our highly skilled staff is carried by an enthusiastic spirit focused on providing our patients the best possible experience for patients, their families, and their referring physicians.

The essential approach to patient care in the neurosciences ICU is collaborative. Neurosciences critical care is fundamentally an interdisciplinary enterprise, combining elements of neurosurgery, neurology, anesthesiology, and critical care medicine. Collaboration between physician providers allows the experience and expertise of multiple specialties and subspecialties to be utilized, enabling the best, most up-to-date care to be provided to our patients.  Collaboration between physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary services ensures that all needs of the patient are addressed.

Our goal is to support you, the community, by providing the level of service your patients require and working closely with you to ensure that a high level of service continues even after discharge from the ICU.  We are deeply committed to the best possible care of our patients and to the success of the Neurosciences Intensive Care Service at OHSU Brain Institute.
