Our Financial Policies
We truly appreciate that you have chosen to obtain your health care from the OHSU Stroke Center. By providing you with this information, we hope to answer most of the questions you may have about our financial policies.
Many insurance companies need to approve an appointment, test or procedure before they pay for it. This is called pre-authorization or authorization. An insurance company, clinic or hospital may also require a referral from your primary care doctor or other primary care provider before you can have an appointment, test or procedure.
You should become familiar with what your insurance plan requires. Knowing whether you need a referral or authorization saves time. It can also keep you from having to pay the full cost of an appointment, test or procedure. If you need help getting insurance authorization, we can help.
