Research Opportunities for Healthy Volunteers

  1. Test your balance, help our research!  OHSU’s Balance Disorders Laboratory is seeking healthy individuals to serve as age-matched controls for patients with neurological disorders for a research study in balance function. Participants must be 55-90+ years of age, in excellent general health, and have no history of dizziness or balance problems. Testing is one-time only, takes approximately 1-2 hours.  If interested, please contact Mike Fleming, 503-346-0842 or email:  IRB#: 5279
  2. OHSU is conducting an observational study in order to determine why patients with PSP fall. The purpose of this study is to learn more about falls and balance dysfunction in PSP to improve quality of life and help guide rehabilitation strategies for individuals with PSP. An observational study means that study participants will undergo numerous tests and assessments of bodily processes related to PSP, but will not receive an experimental drug or treatment.

    Participation Requirements
Participation in this study will require one phone visit to determine eligibility, followed by one visit to the clinic for balance testing. To qualify, subjects must be in excellent general health, be able to stand unassisted for 5 minutes, able to walk unassisted for 50 ft. and be between the ages of 40-85 years.
