How Does ECHO Work?

Oregon healthcare professionals use videoconferencing to connect with specialists for multi-week interactive learning sessions. Expert presenters share their knowledge and clinicians bring their tough cases to get feedback from their peers and specialists. Programs are always free and most offer no-cost continuing education credit.

ECHO in Oregon and Around the World

The Project ECHO tele-mentoring education model was originally developed at University of New Mexico to build the capacity of primary care clinicians to manage health conditions that they typically refer to specialty care. Today, this model is also used to educate clinical teams and other participants on topics ranging from practice transformation to improving clinical workflows to training community health workers. The ECHO system is operating in more than 26 countries, covering more than 70 complex conditions and problems.
