Biography
I underwent my Internal Medicine and Endocrinology training in Cambridge, United Kingdom. During that time, I also spent an additional 5 years in clinical research studying the effects of varying doses of growth hormone treatment on insulin sensitivity in patients with adult growth hormone deficiency, and subjects with metabolic syndrome. In the pituitary field, my particular research interests include the different effects of low versus high doses of growth hormone on insulin sensitivity and fat patterning, how different doses of growth hormone should be utilized clinically, the use of growth hormone secretagogues and long-acting growth hormone in treating adults with growth hormone deficiency. I am also interested in other clinical aspects of pituitary diseases, namely Cushing’s syndrome and acromegaly, and adrenal diseases, namely adrenal tumors and adrenal insufficiency. In the diabetes field, I have conducted many clinical research studies that include studies on automated glucagon delivery in a closed loop system in Type 1 diabetes, studies on impairment of glucose tolerance in susceptible subjects like those with metabolic syndrome and women with Turner’s syndrome, and studies on pain control in diabetic peripheral neuropathy. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, watching movies, playing sports and spending time with my family.
