Biography
Ellen earned her Bachelors Degree in Political Theory from Reed College in 1993. In 1994, she enjoyed a six-month midwifery apprenticeship in a birth center and home birth practice in Berlin where she developed a passion for supporting the normal processes of birth. Ellen received her nursing and midwifery training at University of California, San Francisco, graduating in 2000. Before returning to Portland, she worked in community health in Chicago, where she was privileged to be influenced by several home birth midwives and Latina doulas. Ellen joined the OHSU Nurse-Midwifery Practice in 2003. She teaches the waterbirth classes at OHSU. She lives with her son and husband in SE Portland.
