Biography
In 1990 Dr. Lopez earned his Ph.D. in Cell Biology/Endocrinology and in 1991 his medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco. He received his residency training at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco and completed his Medical Oncology fellowship at the Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California. Dr. Lopez's clinical area of interest is gastrointestinal oncology. His basic research interest is in cellular and molecular mechanisms of tumor cell response to therapy. By studying these complex mechanisms, he ultimately hopes to identify molecular targets for novel cancer therapies. His clinical focus is in the area of gastrointestinal oncology and he is actively involved in clinical trials for a variety of GI malignancies.
