Biography
Dr Lauer strives to provide effective, efficient and compassionate medical and surgical care for patients with disorders of the retina and vitreous. Patients are generally referred from other eye care physicians for evaluation and management of conditions such as wet age-related macular degeneration, macular pucker, macular hole, retinal tear and detachment, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion. Surgical care is provided using the state-of-the-art equipment and in cooperation with a dedicated outpatient surgical eye care staff. Most commonly conducted surgical procedures include vitrectomy treatment of epiretinal membrane (macular pucker), macular hole, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and posterior segment complications following trauma or surgery. Although not applicable for certain surgical situations, for most surgeries, sutureless microincision techniques are used to reduce post operative ocular discomfort.
