During her college years, she worked as a microbiologist at White Labs, one of the country’s largest commercial brewer’s yeast producers, and discovered a love of microbrews and homebrewing. She attended the University of Arkansas for medical school where she was active in the Geriatrics Department, working with the faculty on research in skeletal muscle aging and sarcopenia prevention in the elderly.
