Biography

Brian C. Ricci was born in Ballston Spa, NY.  He attended Canisius College where he earned a B.S. in Biology and Psychology and completed a thesis on the prevalence of depression among contemporary artists.  He went to Georgetown University to earn his M.D. shortly after completing college.  He has traveled extensively throughout Central and South America, and the United States, where he has worked as a medical student and volunteer.  After studying and working in Ecuador, he researched the placebo effect in the Andean ritual of cuy or guinea pig healing.  Committed to working with underserved communities, Brian has worked in New Orleans building houses post-Katrina, organized and implemented community health screening in rural West Virginia, provided free medical care to the DC homeless community at The Georgetown HOYA Clinic, and spent a month in Shiprock, NM working at an IHS hospital serving the Navajo.  When he's not working, Brian enjoys live music, running, backpacking, snowboarding and cooking new recipes.
