Resident, Family Medicine at Richmond

As a family medicine/preventative medicine doctor, my focus is to be able to address the disease a patient or family has and to address their health issues to keep them from getting sick.  Though I love all aspects of medicine, I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents to help them get the best footing in life.  I am also interested in working with patients to address the social issues that affect their health. I think the opportunity a doctor has to get to know people and understand their troubles as well as their hopes and dreams is a real gift.  We use that knowledge to help address disease.  I have also trained as a community organizer and I understand that these pains and dreams, these human stories are also the foundation for understanding each other and working toward the common good. Being a family medicine doctor and a community organizer allows me to support people in every stage of life, from delivering a young couples first child into the world to working with community groups to ensure there is adequate educational support help that child thrive to treating the grandparents hypertension so they can live to see their granddaughter graduate from college.  The opportunity to serve as a physician is an honor and a privilege.
