About me

Rachel Bengtzen, M.D., is a board-certified physician with fellowship training in sports medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She specializes in non-operative sports and musculoskeletal medicine, and has a particular interest in Exercise is Medicine, and using physical activity to prevent and treat disease. She offers injury diagnosis, education, and comprehensive treatment plans.

Dr. Bengtzen was a former elite youth soccer player, and played Division I soccer in college. She received her medical training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. This was followed by an Emergency Medicine residency at Oregon Health & Science University where she served as chief resident, and then the Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. She joined the faculty at Oregon Health & Science University in 2012. Dr. Bengtzen enjoys being outdoors, swimming, creative writing, and soccer.
