Biography

Dr. Foss joined the Diagnostic Radiology staff in 2008. He began his postgraduate career in private practice but found himself longing to teach and wanting to focus on his chosen subspecialty of musculoskeletal imaging and intervention. Since switching to OHSU, he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the university and finds the hospital to be a unique environment of intellectual challenges, collegial interactions, and exciting innovation. He especially enjoys teaching and working side-by-side with residents, fellows, and students. Dr. Foss’s professional interests lie in biomechanics and joint instability, interventional procedures, and MRI physics.

Dr. Foss’s roots are in the southeastern United States. He is a native of Alabama and attended college at Duke University. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical and electrical engineering, he decided to take some time away from his career path and worked as a social worker in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here, he developed an appreciation for the west coast laid back lifestyle. In between medical school and residency in Alabama, he did his internship in Denver, Colorado, where he developed an appreciation for the mountains. When his training was finally finished and he began looking for a place to settle, Portland was an easy decision. He loves living in Oregon, tries to spend as much time as possible outside, and never misses a chance to remind family and friends elsewhere of the fun and lovely place he’s lucky enough to call home. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, biking, running, reading, and photography.
