About me

Cathy Emeis specializes in all aspects of pregnancy care, perimenopause and family planning. Her research interests include midwifery education, quality improvement and midwifery workforce issues. Cathy is very happy that she chose the field of nursing and midwifery and enjoys helping ensure that pregnancy and childbirth is a normal, healthy process for patients and their families.

She feels privileged to teach and practice at OHSU. She directs the OHSU Nurse-Midwifery Education Program, which is consistently ranked as one of the top Nurse-Midwifery Education Programs in the U.S.

When she’s not working, Cathy is learning to grow beautiful roses, and enjoys biking, spending time with her family, and exploring Oregon.

Childbirth and pregnancy philosophy:

"As nurse-midwives, we are experts in normal pregnancy and strive to preserve normalcy for patients and their families. I enjoy working within a system that values the entire obstetric team."
