Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology
Lorinna Lombardi, M.D. is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at Casey Eye Institute. She specializes in cataract surgery, comprehensive ophthalmology, general and urgent eye care, seeing patients with cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye conditions. She is experienced in complex cataract surgery and advanced intraocular lens surgery.
Dr. Lombardi received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with highest honors. She received her M.D from Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California, where she was involved in an international research project on Age Related Macular Degeneration. She completed her transitional internship at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California. She moved to Portland to complete her ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute, OHSU, where she won the Excellence in Ophthalmic Knowledge Acquisition Award, the Kenneth C. Swan Resident Research Award, and the Service Excellence Award. Dr. Lombardi has participated in various research projects, including projects in partnership with glaucoma, cornea, retina and uveitis specialists. She is now involved in resident teaching, and is the Co-Director of the Microsurgical Curriculum. She was awarded the Resident Teaching Award in 2013. She serves as an ophthalmic examiner for many of the clinical trials that are ongoing at OHSU, studying novel chemotherapeutics. She also serves on two educational boards at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is a faculty advisor for medical students at Oregon Health and Science University. She is active in education and gives lectures for the community, board review lectures, and other educational lectures to ophthalmology and other medical trainees.
Dr. Lombardi is married with two children and a dog. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, eating, travel, and outdoor activities with her family.
