Biography
Dr. Gross is a dedicated surgeon-scientist with a passion for the highest quality clinical care and cancer research. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of aggressive skin cancers including melanoma, head and neck squamous cell cancers, thyroid and parathyroid disease, salivary gland and skull base tumors. His current research efforts are focused on the development and validation of improved prognostic tools for head and neck and thyroid cancer patients, the study of the molecular basis of carcinogenesis and the application of novel molecular therapeutics. He collaborates with Drs. Molly Kulesz-Martin and Melissa Wong in the Department of Dermatology for basic and translational scientific projects. Dr. Gross is the director of head and neck cancer clinical trials at the Knight Cancer Institute and is actively involved in numerous collaborative and multi-institutional studies. Dr. Gross has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards including Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award and Clinical Research Loan Repayment Program Award. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed research articles and is an invited guest lecturer nationally. He has also been the recipient of the prestigious American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award, the American Association for Cancer Research-Gerald B. Grindey Memorial Scholar-in-Training Award and the American Head and Neck Society/American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Surgeon Scientist Career Development Award.
