Assistant Professor of Medicine, Nursing and Radiation Medicine
Biography
Dr. Fromme is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology with joint appointments in the School of Nursing and Department of Radiation Medicine. He is also Assistant Director of the OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care. Dr. Fromme's interdisciplinary clinic, called Supportive Oncology and Palliative Medicine, includes physician, nurse, social work and physical therapy practitioners and is the first of its kind in Oregon. Most patients are referred for refractory pain or other difficult symptoms like nausea, fatigue, anorexia or cachexia or for difficult psychosocial problems. Working in collaboration with patients' treating teams, the clinic focuses on both the patient and his or her family. Unlike hospice referral, patients need not be terminally ill nor stop anti-cancer therapies to be treated at the clinic.
