Dr Bakis immigrated from the former USSR and graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in physics. After graduating from Albany Medical College in 2002, he completed internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Buffalo. He finished a second fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy at Maine Medical Center. His clinical interests are therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP, EUS, pancreaticobiliary disorders as well as general gastroenterology, endoscopic treatment of Barrett’s esophagus and colon cancer screening.
His research interests include intraductal endoscopy, biliary stenting, ERCP in post-surgical anatomy and GI bleeding.
