Catheter Associated UTI

What is a urinary catheter-associated UTI (CAUTI)?

Catheter associated UTIs are urinary tract infections related to the presence of a foley catheter. Patients with foley catheters are at increased risk of acquiring UTIs and this can complicate and prolong their care. Proper maintenance of the catheter and prompt removal can reduce the risk of a UTI.
