Resources for OHSU Patients and Visitors
Everybody at OHSU plays a part in preventing the spread of infections, including our patients and their visitors. As a patient, there are many things you can do to protect yourself, but the most important is to wash your hands often and well during your stay. You can use the Avagard alcohol-based hand sanitizer located in your room and throughout the hospital, or, if your hands are visibly soiled, wash with soap and water. Please do not hesitate to remind doctors and nurses and other staff to wash their hands.
Information to prevent infections
The OHSU infection preventionists are members of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and have access to their resources. APIC also provides information for healthcare consumers to help you prevent infections. For more information, explore the APIC website.
