About the Department
Our Mission
The mission of the Department of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) is to prevent and control the transmission of infections to patients, visitors, and staff at OHSU Hospitals and Clinics. We accomplish this by:
- Educating staff on methods for recognition and control of infections
- Focused surveillance of healthcare associated infections in high risk areas and surgical procedures
- Surveillance for organisms of epidemiological importance
- Consultation on both patient-specific and on system-wide issues
- Functioning as an infection control liaison to and resource for the community
Scope of Service
