About the Department

Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) is to prevent and control the transmission of infections to patients, visitors, and staff at OHSU Hospitals and Clinics. We accomplish this by:

• Educating staff on methods for recognition and control of infections
• Focused surveillance of healthcare associated infections in high risk areas and surgical procedures
• Surveillance for organisms of epidemiological importance
• Consultation on both patient-specific and on system-wide issues
• Functioning as an infection control liaison to and resource for the community

Scope of Service
