OHSU

Mission & Goals

Mission Statement

Our mission …

is to reduce health disparities through the promotion of global health awareness, education, advocacy and action at OHSU and throughout the larger community. By facilitating collaborations between students, faculty, and community partners, we aim to (a) provide opportunities to learn about global health care in diverse cultures and settings; (b) build a dynamic community dedicated to inquiry, cooperation, and creative problem-solving; (c) increase access to the kinds of social, intellectual, and other resources that will enable students to work towards reducing global health disparities both locally and abroad.

We value …

equitable, effective and competent healthcare — including preventive and social medicine —for all people; in order that everyone may have an equal opportunity to lead a healthy life.

We believe …

that the current global health inequities are not acceptable and that we possess many of the resources needed to reduce such inequalities. Therefore, we believe that we have the responsibility to achieve greater global health equity through our actions, a goal that we further by enhancing OHSU’s collaborations with the global health community. We believe that together we can promote health equity for all people, worldwide.
