The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the selection of two finalists for the position of Dean within the OHSU School of Dentistry.

He received a bachelor of science in biology (honors) from Portland State University, his doctor of dental medicine degree from OHSU, a certificate in geriatric healthcare from the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center, and a certificate in healthcare ethics from the University of Washington.
Phillip T. Marucha, DMD, PhD currently serves at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry where he is the Associate Dean for Research, Head of Periodontics and Director of Graduate Studies. He received a bachelor of science in biochemistry from the University of Maryland; and his doctor of dental medicine degree, a certificate in periodontology and Ph.D in immunology from the University of Connecticut.
This selection of finalists is another step in the national search for a new Dean for the school that began in May of last year.
"I am very excited and honored that individuals of this caliber have expressed a serious desire to lead our school into the next generation," says Provost Jeanette Mladenovic, MD, MBA, MACP.
Both candidates participated in initial campus visits in which they met with faculty, student and leadership groups. Since then, Dr. Chiodo and Dr. Marucha have also both separately met with members of OHSU's executive leadership team, and looking forward will be meeting with small groups of key School of Dentistry faculty as the selection process moves forward.
