A national search for the new School of Dentistry Dean will be launched this summer and will be overseen by the executive search firm Isaacson, Miller.

School of Dentistry Mission

The School of Dentistry shares the mission of the Oregon Health & Science University to provide educational programs, basic and clinical research, and high quality care and community programs. We strive to foster an environment of mutual respect where the free exchange of ideas can flourish. The dental school prepares graduates in general dentistry and the dental specialties to deliver compassionate and ethical oro-facial health care.

Major Accomplishments

  • Launched $43M fundraising campaign with $27M in gifts and in-kind contributions for a new state of the art dental facility on the South Waterfront named Skourtes Tower.
  • Earned $2.4M in research grants
  • Adopted a new strategic plan, completing a rigorous year long introspective effort utilizing Hoshin planning
  • Received two faculty awards from American Academy of Periodontology, Donald Adams, D.D.S., recipient of 2011 Gold Medal and John Derbyshire, D.D.S., recipient of 2011 Educator Award
