The School of Dentistry Simulation Clinic provides a unique opportunity to study a variety of aspects of dental education in a controlled setting. The disciplines of operative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics and periodontics all teach various aspects of their pre-clinic curriculum in the simulation clinic. Research involving students as they progress through the pre-clinic curriculum allows for evaluating teaching strategies as well as numerous dental materials.
Dental simulation provides the laboratory to closely evaluate student positioning as it relates to musculoskeletal micro-trauma and the resultant long term risks as they effect the career of dental professionals.
Student stress during restorative procedures and test settings are evaluated in the simulation clinic during all restorative pre-clinic courses. This provides data to assess various methods to control stress and improve performance.
