Nurse Midwifery Simulation

OHSU Nurse Midwifery simulation newborn

The Nurse-Midwifery program at OHSU prepares students to meet the unique health care needs of women.  Nurse-Midwives provide primary and gynecologic care to women as well as specialty care and support for expecting mothers.

In addition to the reproductive science, students examine the influences of culture; tradition and the social, economic and political forces that influence the health of women. The program strives to prepare compassionate, skilled clinician-scholars willing to address issues that affect the lives of women.

Overview of Simulation in the Nurse Midwifery ProgramNurse Midwifery Demonstration

Simulation has been integrated into the Nurse Midwifery Program through general clinical and procedural skills training, advanced patient management skills, including standardized patients and high-fidelity manikins.  Simulation allows students to demonstrate level-appropriate clinical judgment and decision-making, allows students to practice within their role and scope, and has fostered interactions across undergraduate and graduate programs.
