Pathways into the B.S. Degree at OHSU for OCNE transition students
Students currently attending a nursing program affiliated with the Oregon Consortium of Nursing Education (OCNE) are eligible to transition directly to OHSU to complete the bachelor degree in nursing. Pathways are available depending on the course delivery options (on campus or online) or by full time or part time status. Two transition pathways are available. Please see each option below to see which pathway will be right for you.
Pathways into the B.S. Degree
There are multiple options for you to complete the B.S. degree after you graduate with your AAS in nursing degree from your Community College. Choose a campus option that fits your needs:Join OHSU on the Ashland Campus: Take your upper division nursing courses at OHSU as part of the Ashland cohort. Starting in the summer term, students joining this pathway will take four terms of full time coursework in an environment that combines a campus based learning environment with online coursework. Clinical opportunities will be provided for students in the Ashland, Medford, Roseburg, and Coos Bay areas. Limited to 32 students, this pathway is designed for students in Southern Oregon to complete their bachelor degree with face to face learning opportunities. Students in this pathway will need to complete the NCLEX and be licensed as a nurse by the end of the first term. This pathway is a great option for anyone looking to complete the bachelor degree in nursing in one year.
Join OHSU on the Virtual Campus
Starting in the fall or spring term, students on this pathway are able to take courses from anywhere in Oregon with courses offered online with occasional real-time webinars and one two-day in-person conference (at the end of NRS 410).
Students on this pathway would:
- Complete their AAS at their Community College Partner School and would be NCLEX eligible.
- Must have an RN license in Oregon for clinical coursework.
- Transfer NRS224 Integrative Practicum to OHSU for 9 credits of upper division nursing coursework.
- Take classes online and would have mentored clinical experiences in an appropriate site in their geographical area (across Oregon).
- Would typically finish the B.S. nursing courses in up to 6 quarters as a part-time student or 4 quarters as a full-time student.
- May need to complete required non-nursing courses while taking the nursing courses or after completion of the nursing courses.
