Areas of particular interest in nursing are community and population health, epidemiology, school health, pediatrics, and obstetrical nursing. My career in nursing has afforded me the privilege of working with many childbearing and child rearing families, as well as mentoring many students entering the profession or returning to school for their Baccalaureate degree.
I am passionate about environmental health and treating each other and our planet with care and respect.

Research
In an effort to reduce the extraordinarily high neonatal mortality rate that Josephine County, Oregon had historically experienced, Ms. Adams conducted a ten year retrospective study reviewing the incidence of known risk factors for neonatal death in that population. One of the key factors was the rate of inadequate prenatal care. The research produced data that substantiated the need for grant dollars to improve access to prenatal care. As a result, community wide partnerships were formed and Josephine County experienced a substantial drop in neonatal deaths over subsequent years.

Additional research sought to compare and evaluate alternative clinical placement strategies for undergraduate student nurses.
