Dr. Bleich is Dr. Carol A. Lindeman Distinguished Professor for the School of Nursing at Oregon Health & Science University. He came to Portland, Oregon in August 2008 having come from a distinguished career in Kansas. Dr. Bleich was Professor and Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, and also served as the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of its faculty practice plan, KU HealthPartners, Inc. In 2006 he was appointed as chair for the Department of Health Policy and Management in the School of Medicine, the first nurse to hold this role in Medicine.
Areas of expertise includes the strategic and operational management of academic clinical enterprises, clinical systems design, work analysis and recognition, incorporating medical home principles in safety net clinics, quality improvement and outcomes metrics, leadership development, and regulatory standards interpretation.
