“I believe: that empowering each woman to achieve her childbirth goal, whatever that may be, enhances her personalperception of the experience.
I believe: encouraging the active participation of a partner, empowers the expectant parents as a couple.
I believe: Midwives do make a difference.”
Prior to becoming a certified nurse midwife, Deena specialized in high risk obstetrics/labor and delivery for 16 years. Further training in obstetrical ultrasound was achieved at John Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore Maryland. She has practiced abroad on the island of Guam where she started a fetal assessment unit that later grew into a Women’s Center. Her bachelor of science in nursing and masters of science in nurse midwifery were obtained at Oregon Health and Sciences University. She is currently adjunct faculty at the university and serves as chairman for the Oregon Chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Deena grew up in Atlanta Georgia the youngest of four and enjoys all the outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer, such as, backpacking, hiking, biking, Vespa riding and hanging out with friends in local coffee spots.
