SoN Alumni Betty Jean Love passed away on 12/19/2013 at the age of 81

Betty Jean Love passed away December 19, 2013 at Fern Gardens Memory care in Medford, Ore. Betty was born to Bill and Zaida Acker in Roseburg, Ore. July 19, 1932. In 1955 she married Jim Love in Medford, Ore. where they lived most of their lives and raised their family. Betty earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from OHSU in 1954. She began her nursing careers as a surgical nurse but then took a job with the Medford School District. Betty quit her job as school nurse at Hedrick Jr. High after 18 years in order to manage their retail store, Love's Gift Boutique. The store was later expanded and renamed Love's Cosmetique. During this time Betty was involved with the Business and Professional Women's Club, once receiving their honor as Woman of the Year. Operating her business was the highlight of Betty's life. Betty's retirement was hastened by health issues but she recovered well. She thoroughly enjoyed the two years she and Jim spent in San Philipe, Mexico. They ultimately returned to the States to be close to adequate medical facilities due to varied health issues. Betty is survived by her husband, Jim Love; daughter, Linda Ford; sister, Joyce (Acker) Kerns; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Gene Love, and both her brothers.
